Miguel Forero Henao and Seongwoo Jo, both recent graduates and research assistants at the Ferguson Lab, received awards for the papers presented at the 11th North American Masonry Conference. The conference serves as a forum for engineers, architects, contractors and others interested in masonry for the exchange of scientific, engineering, architectural, construction, evaluation, and repair information on masonry. The 11th NAMC conference focused on current issues related to masonry in seismic regions and green technology applications in masonry. Since 1990, the North American Conference (NAMC) has given awards to recognize outstanding papers presented at the conference.

Miguel's paper "Splice Provisions for Deformed Reinforcement Surrounded by Grout in AAC Masonry" received honorable mention in the Experimental Research"category. The paper was co-authored by Miguel's supervising faculty member, Richard E. Klingner.

Seongwoo's paper "Seismic Performance of Masonry Veneer in Wood-Frame Structures" received the outstanding paper award in the Experimental Research category. The paper was co-authored by Hussein Okail, P. Benson Shing, Richard E. Klingner, W. Mark McGinley and David I. McLean.

Both papers will be published in the 11th NAMC Proceeding by The Masonry Society.
