Project Summary:

Fabricate fatigue test fixtures to match the base plate of high mast illumination pole (HMIP) test specimens, design and purchase two HMIP test specimens. The test specimen shafts and base plate shall conform to the dimensions of a 150', 80 MPH, 12-sided pole except that the anchor bolt hole diameter may be 1-7/8" and the number of anchor bolts may vary. The access hand hole, winch mounting channel, and other holes and attachments are optional. One HMIP test specimen will be galvanized without a ground sleeve and one HMIP Test specimen shall be black (uncoated) without a ground sleeve. Both specimens will have a complete joint penetration base plate to shaft weld detail conforming to the TxDOT Standard Sheet "HMIP(1)-98" detail "No Ground Sleeve."

Perform Fatigue Tests to Failure of 1 pair of Specimens. Weldment samples will be taken from the fatigue test specimens after testing for macroetch and ultrasonic examination sample sections.
